Carmelgiri Social Service Forum aims to empower the seminarians on human centered formation through social service. This is one of the mediums through which social awareness and commitment among the students is promoted; and to spread the love of Jesus to the poor, the needy and the marginalized. We gather on every first Thursday of the month at 8:45 in the first-year theology class room. As the outcome of this meeting students are inspired and motivated to take action and make difference.
Therefore, various social related issues are discussed and put into action in the limited areas. Nearly Fifty
brothers from different batches are active members in this forum.
The forum generates its income from different activities such as fasting on all Fridays, collecting and selling waste paper, plastic Covers and bottles, running a small Saloon for hair dressing, running a book binding Center, and collecting half of the profit of the agricultural work of each batch. The main activities
of the forum include blood donation for the needy, giving financial aid for medicine and distribution of
study materials to the poor children in the beginning of academic year. Forum also financially helps the poor persons those who are seeking a shelter to protect their lives. Under the leadership of this forum every student participated to collect the plastics and papers from the seminary vicinity. We record cordially everyone who helps for the functioning of the forum. We are quite sure this forum aids an integral role in shaping the future pastors.
